Miss Srivastava is one of a number of specialists to provide part of mine and my husband's fertility treatment. She has an open and friendly manner and instilled great confidence in us that she was able to assess our needs and advise appropriately. Miss Srivastava has also been monitoring me during development of OHSS and offered reassurance at an anxious and uncomfortable time. I appreciate her care and attention along with the rest of the excellent team at the Homerton.

Garima is a methodical yet caring presence at the Homerton Fertility Unit. She has been guiding us through our journey for the last year and has been impressive in the sound medical advice she gives. She is attentive and listens to our wants/needs, yet takes the time to then give her clinical opinion so we can come to a decision ourselves.

I am a cancer patiant waiting for chemotherapy treatment. My oncology surgeon recomended chemo first in an attempt to reduce the cancer size before surgery, but also told me the treatment might affect my future fertility. And as my breast cancer cells have hormone receptors, she wasn't sure it would be safe for me to try the fertility treatment before I had the chemotherapy. However, Dr. Garima told the surgeon and me that it will not affect the cancer if they use a medicine that will reduce the hormones to a normal rate. That was really reassuring and I was glad I talked to Dr. Garima before I made my dissision not to proceed in the fertility treatment in fear of my cancer growth. She explained very thoroughly and even took time out of her schedule to see me after an appointment booking mishap. I felt like I was looked after really well by her and all the other nurses. Now I have an option however the chemo may affect me and I thank her for that.

Profile

I am a Consultant Gynaecologist, with 18 years’ experience of working in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
I qualified in 1997 and did my MD in 2002 in India. I came to UK in 2005 and completed a comprehensive speciality training programme of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and has the accreditation of the UK Specialist Training Authority. I was appointed as a consultant in 2015 at Homerton University Hospital NHS Trust after completing a fellowship in the fertility unit.

Training in both the parts of the world has given me understanding and respect for people from all the parts of the world.
.
My main areas of interest are to help couples who are finding it difficult to have a baby. I trained extensively in this area as I have discovered that I had a particular talent for this areas of medicine which needed sensitivity to understand what couples go through . I am known for my calm, sensitive and caring approach, which my patients find extremely reassuring.
I am committed to provide excellent evidence based services, to couples who are trying for a baby on all aspects of fertility. I am also a trainer for various aspects of assisted conception through British Fertility Society.

Clinical work has always been my primary interest, rather than academic research. However, I do recognise the importance of academia and am a keen facilitator to guide the fellows through numerous projects. In my training, I have familiarised myself with the principles of research and have encouraged my trainees to be involved and supported colleagues to conduct high quality research.
